January 29, 2016 | Leave a comment Hi everyone! Coach Josh here. I have been a SportsCool Coach for two and a half months now. In that two and a half months, the only thought that has crossed my mind… Why didn’t I do this sooner? But why? Simple the children shine! I have always been a strong believer that sport is something that people should have in their lives no matter what their circumstance. Sport has a way of gripping you, getting you to push yourself and others and subsequently it brings everyone together! I also believe Sport has a huge mental, as well as the obvious physical, well-being consequence. SportsCool has taught me how important it is for children to be introduced to sport at a young age. Educate – Motivate – Participate, our ethos is directed at the children in primary schools that we teach. I feel this is well summed up in Marianne Williamson’s passage from A Return to Love. Marianne Williamson – A Return to Love: “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people will not feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone and as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” This quote is something that I had heard on a film, but had never really taken much notice of; I think that it helps sum up what we are all about at SportsCool. We believe that every child has the right to be an individual, be motivated, learn the value of working with others, and most importantly be able to mentally switch off whilst playing sport. One line stands out in particular. ‘We are all meant to shine, as children do’. Children are supposed to have fun, be energetic, smile and laugh. SportsCool achieve this, day in day out, through the variety of sports and dance that we offer, and who knows, we may just help a child find something they love doing so much, that they do it for the rest of their life. Wow; what a legacy! Josh SportsCool want to hear how Sport and Dance have enriched yours, or your child’s lives; please share in the comments section below your experiences of this. We look forward to hearing from you.
